The Argus (Dundalk), 12 July 2006: Joint Committee likely to hold series of hearings in autumn At their meeting last Wednesday the Joint Committee briefly considered the Report of the Independent Commission and held a preliminary discussion with Mr Justice Barron the author of the report. The Joint Committee subsequently decided to adopt and publish Justice Barron's report as an interim report. It was also agreed that a sub-committee would be established to consider the report. The membership of that sub-committee is: Deputies Sean Ardagh, Marie Hoctor, Kathleen Lynch, Finian McGrath, Sean O'Fearghail, Senators, Maurice Cummins and Jim Walsh. The sub-committee wil in all likelihood issue invitations and hold a series of hearings in September and October after which it will present a draft report to the Joint Committee which will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas and which will be published as soon as possible and hopefully within the deadline set by the Houses.
