Seán Ardagh T.D., Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women’s Rights and the other members of the Joint Committee, will host a press conference on Wednesday 5th July 2006 at 5 p.m., in the Audio Visual Centre, Leinster House 2000, to give details of the referral to the Joint Committee of the Report of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Bombing of Kay’s Tavern, Dundalk in 1975. That Report deals with not only the Dundalk bombing, but also a series of other terrorist atrocities, involving a large number of fatalities and injuries.

Motions of referral by both Houses are expected to be passed by 1 pm today Wednesday 5th July. The Joint Committee will deliberate in private session at 3 pm today, in order to discuss the Motions of referral. If the Committee decides to adopt as an Interim Report the Report prepared by Mr Justice Henry Barron, the Interim Report will be laid before the Houses and promptly published.

A press conference is expected to start, in the Audio-Visual Room at approximately 5 pm. The Chairperson and Members will provide preliminary details of the approach to be adopted by the Joint Committee in its consideration of the Report, and the timescale envisaged.
